I have had a few replies so far which are contradictory. Some say cluster
need to be down or up (it may depend on version).

I have noticed that I have another cluster that does not have the volume
groups listed in the cluster config binary at all. However that is a hpux
    11.0 system (not 10.20).
If the volume groups don't need to be in the cluster config then what
benefits do you get by having them in there?

    thanks
    Julian

Subject: [HPADM] Updating Service Guard Cluster info

    Hi,
I need to add a new volume group to a Service Guard (Version A.10.10)
clusters on an HPUX 10.20 server.
Do I have to add the volume group name into the cluster definition binary
via cmapplyconf to get it to recognize the volume group or can I get away
with adding the necessary entries into the control script?

The man page for cmapplyconf is ambiguous as to whether the
cluster/package needs to be down before applying changes.

    with regards,

    Julian
