    and actually you can only mirror disks for free on 11i with VxVM if the
    disks are in vg00 else you have to pay $$ to mirror non-root volume group
    PVs

    if you are using LVM (regardless of the OS version) then you need to pay $$
    to get Mirror-UX

    Mirror-UX is necessary to do any mirroring of LVM. Mark mentioned a caveat
    that VxVM includes Mirror-UX free on 11i--but not LVM.

    Is Mirror-UX necessary to mirror a root disk, or can it be done without it?

    I know Mirror-UX has a lot of functionality, but I don't know if it's
    necessary for performing a simple mirror.
