Hello and thanks to all who have replied.

It should be a great deal of binary compatibility between code running on RISC/HP-UX 11i or 11.00 and Itanium/HP-UX 11i v2.

Itanium comes with a tool called Aries which makes dynamic code translation for running RISC code untouched. ( a slice of peformance is lost consequently ).

Recompile source code and optimize would be a better option if applicable.

I've told that problems could arise with PA-RISC executables that had shared libraries statically linked.

    No problems with data porting.

The ones interesting in the RISC-to-Itanium topic should follow the next links which include lots of information:

    Best regards,

    javier
