Thanks to all who responded. Many suggested `shutdown -hy 0` or something
similar, but that doesn't power off the machine. It still requires that
someone physically turn off the power. The most complete answer came from
    Bill Hassell, which is below.

Not exactly init 5 (but you already knew that nothing is compatible
between Unices when it comes to hardware administration). Remote
power off is available *ONLY* on the most recent HP 9000 boxes
such as the RP series. It is not possible on K-class or earlier.

You would use the GSP to tell the server to power down. Naturally,
you do this *after* a complete shutdown, so you need console access.
(you do have all your remote consoles on a special LAN, correct?)

But even then, catastrophic power problems require the entire computer
room to be powered down. Otherwise, you lose tape drives, disk arrays,
    printers, network routers, PCs, etc.

When I used to work with Sun machines, I could execute `init 5` to shutdown
and power off the servers. Someone told me 11i might have this feature, so
I have searched for it and come up with nothing. Is there an equivalent
feature in HP-UX that allows for powering off servers from the shell? We
just went through Hurricane Charley, and it would have been useful.
