[HPADM] Summary: Moving /var/adm/sw

    Thanks to all who replied. As I expected it's safe and there is no
    reason why I should not/cannot move the /var/adm/sw to a different LV.

    Here is what Bill Hassell had to say which is pretty much what everyone
    else said as well:

    /var/adm/sw is indeed critical but it can be on any lvol on any volume
    group.
    It is definitely recommended to move it away from /var. No symlink is
    needed
    though. Just mount the new lvol, move the files to the new lvol leaving

    /var/adm/sw an empty directory, then edit fstab to point the new lvol
    to
    the mountpoint /var/adm/sw, umount the new lvol, re-mount the new lvol
    to
    /var/adm/sw and you're done. The sw directory is only used by
    swinstall
    and related programs. Just to make sure all is well, stop and restart
    swagent.

    I am trying to clean up my /var filesystem. I can't expand it on-line
    so I am looking for other options. I have already used the cleanup
    command. I found one post on the HP ITRC as follows:

    1. moving (copy and delete) /var/adm/sw to a larger
    filesystem/directory (say, "/larg/var_adm_sw ") and create a link to
    it
    ln -s /larg/var_adm_sw /var/adm/sw

    Is this safe? Or could I mess up SD on my box by doing this?
