    Hello:
I received several very helpful answers about this topic: Thanks to Bill
Hassell, James Perry and Tom Schmidt.

I discovered that using cstm I get the right answer in one of the N4000
    servers:

    (...)
    Memory Board Inventory

       Extender
Slot Num Configured and Slot label for each DIMM (MB)
       -------- --------------------------------------------
                   0a 2a 1a 3a 3b 1b 2b 0b
                 ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

           EXT0 512 512 512 512 512 512 512 512
       ------------------------------------------------------
       System Total (MB): 4096

    (...)

But in other N4000 I get:

    (...)
    cstm>il
-- Converting a (68) byte raw log file to text. --
Preparing the Information Tool Log for MEMORY on path 192 File ...

    .... ttlux05.techtel.ot : 10.161.4.105 ....

-- Information Tool Log for MEMORY on path 192 --

Log creation time: Mon Apr 4 10:21:34 2005

    Hardware path: 192

-- Information Tool Log for MEMORY on path 192 --
View - To View the file.
Print - To Print the file.
SaveAs - To Save the file.
    (...)

So it seems to be a problem in the second server, where I get:

    cstm>cds
-- Converting a (860) byte raw log file to text. --
Preparing the Current Device Status Log for MEMORY on path 192 File ...

    .... ttlux05.techtel.ot : 10.161.4.105 ....

-- Current Device Status Log for MEMORY on path 192 --

The following information was archived during the last hardware scan:

    Product : MEMORY
    Qualifier : 90
    Hardware Path : 192
    Device Type : Memory
    Device Qualifier : Memory

Most Recent Tool Run : Information
    Tool Exit Status :
Tool completed with exit_status MOD_INCOMPLETE (5) indicating the tool
    was
started but could not properly complete execution.
    Current Status : INCOMPLETE

    Recommended Action : Check test_activity_log.

    Installed tools:
       Diagnostic : None
       Verifier : None
       Exerciser : memory
       Information : memory
       Expert Tool : memory (Licensed)
       Firmware Update : None
-- Current Device Status Log for MEMORY on path 192 --

Does anybody knows how to correct the "mod_incomplete" exit status in
    cstm output?

    Thanks in advance

    Ignacio
