[HPADM] SUMMARY: DST Patch forgotten to be applied on HP-UX Servers

Dear SAs:

Thanks a lot for all the responses. Every single
e-mail I got asked me to apply the patch to be
prepared for Fall. Here is one of the responses I got.
Thanks again, SAs for your prompt responses.

Neil,

No, you need to apply the patch. The patch updates
your /usr/lib/tztab file which has the changes for
both the start and end of
Daylight Saving Time. If you don't apply the patch
then your servers will revert back from DST a week
too early this fall. And if you
don't apply the patch, then you'll have the same
problem of not switching to DST a year from now.

[HPADM] DST Patch forgotten to be applied
on HP-UX Servers

Dear SAs:

We have forgotten to apply the DST OS related
patches
on a few old servers running HP-UX 11i. The
time/clock
shows an hour behind on many of the forgotten
server.
Do we really have to apply this patch now, after the
DST change? Wouldn't it be good enough if I just
change the time manually and have it synced with our
NTP Server?

[Fortunately for us none of the apps/databases seem
to
be broken... Many of these forgotten Servers had
HP-UX
11i and outdated APPS running which had nothing
important, except for a couple which were
DataProtector Servers... ]
