[HPADM] RE: Re: Printing problems moving from hp-ux 10.20 to 11.23 - corrected symptom

It's possible the printer interface scripts on the new system are
sending a printer reset (which would take that long) at the beginning of
each print job and the older system wasn't.

The symptom is different that I originally described, though. There
is a pause of 15-20 seconds between print jobs, not print pages. Any
ideas?

To: hpux-admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

We were previously running HP-UX 10.20 on a K580. Last week we
moved to a
rx4640 running HP-UX 11.23. Everything is going great except the
printing. When users submit print jobs, the first page prints, then
there is a 2-3
second pause, then the next page prints, etc. The print queues
were not
ported over, they were newly created. I searched the archive for
a solution
earlier and there was some hint of DNS being the root cause, but
the printer
hostnames (all using hp jetdirect cards) are defined in the
/etc/hosts file.
Any suggestions are welcomed. I'll summarize when resolved. TIA.
