[HPADM] RE: Tentative SUMMARY: L Class and N Class memory

Just as I suspected: the collective experience of the HP-UX admin mailing list had the right answer: The RAM removed from an N4000 server and installed in an L2000 server worked just fine.

Thanks for the help.

Stan

Subject: [HPADM] Tentative SUMMARY: L Class and N Class memory

The general felling on the question of using N class server memory in an L class server is that it should work, with no problems. Once we've gone ahead with the memory transfer, I'll report on the success of the move.

Thanks for the input.

Subject: [HPADM] L Class and N Class memory

We are in the process of retiring an N class server, but keeping an L class around as a development and test server. What we would like to do is move some of the memory out of the N into the L, since the L is a little light at 7.25 GB of RAM.

From what I have been able to find on the web, the part numbers are different, but it appears the specs are the same. The ultimate question: Will RAM from the N class work in the L class?

Thanks....
