[HPADM] git-1.7.1 package error

Our sysadmin installed the git-1.7.1 package, but /usr/local/share/git-core seems not to have been created. In particular, this causes /usr/local/bin/git to complain about missing templates.

plawrenc $ /usr/local/bin/git init
warning: templates not found /usr/local/share/git-core/templates
Initialized empty Git repository in /home/plawrenc/tmp/foo/.git/

Is there a manifest that will tell me whether your package expected to place anything in /usr/local/share/git-core? I downloaded git-1.7.1-src-11.11.tar.gz and did see that the Makefile contains this line:

template_dir = share/git-core/templates
