    Folks,

With the arrival of snapfs we started to make ufsdumps of snapshots
instead directly off the filesystem, in order to have a consistant
    base.

Recently I tried to do a full restore of a multilevel dump with

    ufsrestore r

Level 0 was fine, but after that things tended to fall apart, as
ufsrestore complained that the level 1 dump was not realy based on
    the level 0 dump.

We eventually figured out what the reason was. When taking a dump
off a filesystem in snapshot state the real filesystem may change
(right this is why we take the snap). The problem is now, that the
ufsdump does not know about this. When taking the level 1 dump off
the snap a day later, it will appear as if files have shown up (or
changed) in the filesystem BEFORE the level 0 dump was finished.
(which is actually true, as the changed occured in the real fs but
    not in the snap)

How do you deal with this ? Have you tried restoring a multilevel
dump taken with ufs snapshots ?

    cheers
    tobi
