    Hi all,

When I calculate the % of the disk used by dividing the column "used" by the
column "kbytes" the % got is very much different from the
one that is displayed under the column heading "capacity". In fact this is
true for all the file systems and for several versions of solaris.

    For example:
    /home/usera> df -k
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
    /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 963869 185680 720357 21% /
    /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0 3099093 2263070 774042 75% /usr

    When calculated : % used
     / : ( 185680 / 963869 = ) 19%
     /usr: (2263070 / 3099093 =) 73%

    Can anybody please explain ?

    Thanks
    Ramesh C Pathak
