Here is Caper's answer for summary :
The 02/02 release is the last Maintenance updates; it is a year and a half
old; since then, many pathces have been updated and new patches have been
created; you should also intall the latest recommended and security cluster.
(No more MUs for S8 will be forthcoming)

I'm about to install Solaris 8 02/02 (MU7), and wonder if I should
apply
other patches.
As a general rule for Solaris 8+ installation, would you recommend
to stay
with last MU (until next MU), or to immediately apply latest
up-to-date
8_recommended patch cluster available on SunSolve (in other words,
are there
any issues with fresh recommended patch clusters not integrated into
a new
MU) ?
