Hi Guru's,
I have a general query with regards SAN attached storage. We have a number
of Solaris 2.6/8 systems that have SAN attached storage. However, most, if
not all, of these systems experience and avarage iowait of around 20%, some
of these systems have peak waits of between 50-70%. I would just like to
find out what the general feel is out there with regards iowait on SAN
attached storage. Are our values too high or is this the norm. All the
servers have dual paths to the SAN storage, using a combination of JNI and
EMULEX fibre cards, the Sunfire range use EMULEX LP9002 cards and the
Enterprise range use JNI FCE2-1063 and FCE-1063. The SAN array is an
HDS9980V with 20G cache.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bruce
