Openssh install help ?!?!?

    Ive managed to get the newest OpenSSH installed on all but one of my boxes.
    This is the way i got it to work on the other boxes :

    ./configure --prefix=/opt/src --with-ssl-dir=/usr/local/ssl --with-pam
    --with-tcp-wrappers=/usr/local/bin --with-ldflags=-L/usr/local/ssl/lib
    --with-ldflags=-R/usr/local/ssl/lib

    but it complains about $PATH ..i not sure what its referring to ..
    the error is:

    "configure: error: *** 'ar' missing, please install or fix your $PATH ***"

    By the way ...id like to thank all of you for all the help ive received
    from this mailing list
