    Hi,

    I have configured a NIS server and clients.
    If in case the ypserv is stopped,we can't even loggin!! Where as the clients
    /etc/nsswitch.conf is as :

    passwd: nis [SUCCESS=return NOTFOUND=continue UNAVAIL=continue
    TRYAGAIN=continue] files
    .
    .
    .
    .

    ----
    Even tried as:
    passwd:     nis [NOTFOUND=continue] files
    .
    .
    Where as according to theory we should be able to login using files!! at
    least!!
    What may be causing this ?
    -Thanks
    -Dilip.M
