First, of course make sure sd.conf is properly configured for the LUNs
needed (default is one LUN per SCSI device).
However, the main problem is that while the dual channel ultra3 card is
supported in Solaris 8 and Solaris 9, neither of those actually support it
natively.
Thanks to Ed Garvey at Sun for the quick answer. Email is quoted below,
and the original question appears at the bottom.
---
Customers have been installing this Low Voltage Differential card in
supported systems not running Solaris[TM] 8 or higher. Check below for
the requirements and driver information
1. The minimum operating system is Solaris 8 with the Recommended Patch
Cluster.
2. The necessary driver for this HBA is not included in Solaris 8 or
Solaris 9, it must be downloaded.
3. The Patch ID is 112697-xx for Solaris 8 and 112706 -xx for Solaris 9
To Download and Install the Driver Packages
1. Log into the host to be connected to the array.
2. Go to www.sun.com/software/download/index.html
3. Click on the A-Z index tab and then select S.
4. Find Sun StorEdge [TM] PCI Dual Ultra3 SCSI Host Adapter v1.0 in that
list towards the bottom, and click the link.
5. If you have not already registered, click the Register button,
complete the registration form, and click the second Register button
when done.
6. Enter your Personal ID and Password, and click the Log In button.
7. On the Legal/License Agreement page, read the License Agreement and
click Accept and Continue when done
8. Find the table of files to download for the version of the Solaris
operating environment on which you are installing the driver. On the Sun
StorEdge[TM] PCI Dual Ultra3 SCSI Host Adapter 1.0 page, find the
packages listed under the column heads for one of the following
operating environments: Solaris[TM] 8/SPARC Platform or Solaris[TM]
9/SPARC Platform
9. Download the required packages, choosing between 32 bit and 64 bit
according to your configuration, and download the README file. For
32-bit configuration download the following two files:
SUNWqus.tar.Z
SUNWqusu.tar.Z
For a 64-bit configuration download the following four files (32 plus 64
bit drivers must be installed) :
SUNWqus.tar.Z
SUNWqusu.tar.Z
SUNWqusx.tar.Z
SUNWqusux.tar.Z

Again, thanks, everyone.
