vi crashing with error

Hello Managers,
I am facing a typical problem on a Sun Netra box
Whenever I
am trying to open a file thro vi command it is crashing and giving a core
dump. Below is the error
vi .login
vt100: Unknown terminal type
[Using
open mode]
Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
No matter whatever TERM settig I
do it is crashing.
