Adding SBus HBA

I have an ultra 1 running Solaris 8 . I am installing a Sun sbus HBA to
connect to a tape library. I have added the fiber packages and re-booted -r
and the tape library is not recognized nor do I see a massage that socal has
plumed up. I have verified that the fiber link between the card and the
tape library works by booting from the Solaris cd in single user and the
link comes up fine. I know I must be missing something. The only other
recourse I have is to re-install the OS with the HBA installed . I would
like not to have to do this. Any help is appreciated.
