I have a networked Sun Java Desktop System (SJDS) ws and a Solaris7/CDE
ws. I wish to start a local Xserver on each and do a XDMCP request for
remote font server, remote dt/GDM login and session to each other (both
    ways).

    1) On the SJDS ws the following command is entered:

         X :1 -fp tcp/Solaris_host:7100 -query Solaris_host

This works to supply correct fonts for the CDE session on the SJDS
display, which shows that the font server on Solaris works properly.
(and without the font request -fp the X fonts becomes bad)

    2) On the Solaris/CDE box the corresponding commands should be:

         Xsun :1 -fp tcp/SJDS_host:7100 -query SJDS_host

The purpose is to supply (add) correct (antialiased?) fonts from the
SJDS/Gnome2.2 session's XFS font server to the Solaris7 Xserver display.
Until now, without this font remote service, the displayed fonts has
been grainy and duld (looks bad and not continued filled).

But which steps is needed and how to enable/configure the XFS font
server properly on SJDS to serve fonts over the network to remote displays?

Can there also be other Solaris7 X server startup options that is worth
trying to better the overall result?

I use the old SS1's default GX 8 bit color depth and 1152x864 screen
resolution for this 'X station/terminal'. This works quite well with
remote CDE dtlogin. Therefore I have also selected a simple Gnome theme
Bright with 8 bit color for remote GDM login on SJDS.

    Kind regears,
    Terje J. Hanssen
