    Hi sunmamangers,

I need to configure a network interface on a machine running Solaris 8
    with the following values:

    inet: 192.168.14.8
    netmask: 255.255.255.0
    broadcast: 192.168.14.1

I may configure the interface easily with

    # ifconfig ge1 inet 192.168.14.8 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast
    192.168.14.1

but as soon as I take the interface up the broadcast address is
    automatically set to 192.168.14.255

    # ifconfig ge0 inet 192.168.14.8 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast
    192.168.14.255 up

Should i make any changes in Firewall/router ?

    Could you please advice ?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Regards,
    Saravana babu
