    Hello List,

i was asked the following by our developers and i am not 100% sure.

The group develops a product on a 2.51 solaris system using a rather
old workshop compiler (3.0.1). For certain reasons (dont ask!) the
production environment was moved to solaris 8. So far everything just
works, i.e. the "old" libs and apps are moved to the new platform and
work. However we are now moving the development env to solaris 8 as
well, alongside with upgrading the compiler suite to a current
version. The plan is to put all the old libs in the new environment
and migrate the libs one by one.

The question is now, does anyone know of any problems that may result
from mixing old and new dynamic libs, built on those different
    platforms with the different compilers?

My understanding is that it is supposed to work, and the first step
(the move of ALL old libs to the new platform) worked fine.

    Thanks for any input.
    Regards/Mit freundlichen Gr|ssen

    dd
