    Thanks to all the people who replied. (especially those who are out of
    office)

     

    Sorry if some of you thought this was too basic of question for this group.
    I did search google and the past sunmanagers archives. I got a lot of mixed
    advice from both of those routes.

     

    The consensus seems to be its fine to remove the device as long as there is
    nothing else on the scsi chain.

     

    Joe Fletcher suggested using the cfgadm command to deconfigure the device.
    He recommended ensuring networker, legato, etc are killed so nothing is
    trying to use the device while it's down.
