    Is there such a thing on Solaris as a fifo file?
    i.e. a file that will take only one entry so when its tailed, the
    content will scroll up the screen, but the file will not grow in size.

      ... hopefully this is not an obvious question, but I cannot see my scsi tape drive from my Solaris 9 install on my v890, yet from the OBP it shows up in probe-scsi-all ... have to add it to st.conf manually, and reboot (if memory serves) ...
