    Hi All,

Sorry for not getting the chance to summerize. By default with Solaris
scheduling, my simulation CAD jobs will bind to a one cpu per job since they
are not multi-threaded. It ultizes that cpu to the fullest. There is a
command under Solaris that creates and manages the processor sets "psrset"

Psrset would be more ideal in a case where there's four or more processors.
I can then setup a certain amount of cpu's for CAD jobs, but in my case I
only have dual processors and it wouldn't make sense to set this up.

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Subject: CPU Performance

    Hello,

My question pertains to Sun CPU in general. I was unable to find documents
about this and I thought maybe someone here would know.

In a case where a system has dual cpu's, by default will it allocate all the
necessary process power to a application that is cpu intensive. In other
words, will it only use one of the two cpu's or will it use both at the same
time. I have noticed on all of my machines (V210) which runs CAD
simulations has consistent of about 50% per job and 100% with two jobs
running. What are the default cpu settings on these servers and solaris 8?
Would it be possible to utilize most of the cpu on the first job that starts
making it finish at a faster time?

    Thanks

    Michael
