Thanks to Casper ***, John Elser and Robert Petkus..

It seems that my library files for the pkgadd command had become
corrupt. Maybe due to a patch installation.

I copied these from another server and they are working now. There was
    one library that was different....

    /usr/lib/libadm.so.1

I checked which package this came from (pkgchk -l -p
/usr/lib/libadm.so.1) and then checked that this package was installed
    correctly, which it was.

    Original message below....

    Hi All,

I have tried searching for this but think I am finding a lot of red
    herrings.

I have a solaris 8 server that I have hardened using the web site
    ...http://www.spitzner.net/

I am trying to add disk suite but am getting an error....

    Solaris Volume Management API's
    (sparc) 1.0,REV=2001.07.25.13.05
WARNING: Stale lock installed for pkgadd, pkg SUNWlvma quit in analysis
    state.

    file /usr/sadm/install/bin/pkginstall: symbol get_install_root:
    referenced symbol not found

I have tried adding /usr/lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH so it picks up ld.so.1
but still I get the same error.

Anyone else seen this that can shed some light?

    Regards,
    Colin.
