    Hi All

I have a curious problem with vold.

My U10 Sol 9 system (patched) has run for some time without a problem
and I have used cdrecord to write to my DVD-R's for about 1 year now. To
do this I simply take the vold down using the /etc/init.d/volmgt stop
commend and running cdrecord. I recently had to reconfig using devfsadm,
temporarily replace the CD with a replacement backup disk, copy data and
then replace the CD, reconfig's (devfsadm) and then all appeared fine.

Now however when I stop vold and issue the cdrecord commend to start the
write to the DVD, I get the cdrecord preamble, then

    Alarm Clock
    Volume management started

on the screen and the cdrecord can no longer get to the DVD.

Why is vol mgt starting of its own accord?

I can find no reference to thsi with Google etc. Any help would be
    appreciated.

    Thanks

    Peter
