I am trying to figure out why I recently stopped being able to mount certain
filesystems from the auto_tools map on my desktop workstation.

    My desktop is bound properly.
    13 shalmaneser!/ >> ypwhich
    wintermute.tsg.cbot.com

The automount master map correctly refers to the /tools mountpoint.
    14 shalmaneser!/ >> ypcat -k auto.master
    /tools auto_tools -nosuid,nobrowse
    /home auto_home -nosuid,nobrowse

The auto.tools map is propogating properly.
    15 shalmaneser!/ >> ypcat -k auto.tools
    [...]
    src wintermute:/opt/src

    wintermute is sharing the filesystem:
    7 wintermute!/opt >> share
    - /opt rw=tsgmachs ""
    [...]

My desktop is in the tsgmachs netgroup:
    17 shalmaneser!/ >> ypmatch -k tsgmachs netgroup
    tsgmachs: tsgsrvr tsgclient1 tsgclient2 tsgclient3
    18 shalmaneser!/ >> ypmatch -k tsgclient2 netgroup
tsgclient2: [lots of additional hosts deleted] (shalmaneser.tsg.cbot.com,-,tsg.cbot.com) [more hosts deleted. Shalmaneser is in the middle of the map]

    other NIS maps work.
    20 shalmaneser!/ >> ypcat -k auto.home | grep cbar44
    cbar44 wintermute:/home2/cbar44
    21 shalmaneser!/ >> cd /home/cbar44
    22 shalmaneser!/home/cbar44 >>

but if I try to mount /tools/src, it fails:
    23 shalmaneser!/ >> cd /tools/src
    ksh: /tools/src: not found

Oh, everything is Solaris 9, fully patched.

Why would the auto.tools map be failing? I have already stopped and restarted
NIS on my desktop and on the server, as well as re-pushing the map.

    TIA, and I will summarize.
