I have an old E3500 I was getting ready to setup and wanting to utilize
8 drives (fully populated) The system is currently only seeing 4 of 8
drives. I have found something on Sun's web site showing that depending
on how the FC-AL cable is connected that you can have either Drive port
A / B and either the upper or lower bank. What is the distinction of
using port A versus port B?
Currently the fiber cable is connected from GBIC LA to the right side of
the server (from the back side view) to a GBIC that is not labeled. Is
the non-labeled GBIC on an E3500 a termination point? Do I need to run
another fiber cable from GBIC UA (port A drives 4,5,6,7) to the right
side of the server in the second unlabeled GBIC area, or do you run the
fiber cable from GBIC LA to GBIC UA?
Thanks.
