Epson USB Sun Blade 100 Printing

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a log printer from our monitoring machine, a Sun Blade 100.
The printer is USB and I plugged it into the rear of the Sun Blade 100. There
is also a four-port add-on USB PCI card which I also tried.

Nothing comes out on the printer! Everything seems OK but lpstat -t reports:-

The USB ports definitely work as I tried them individually with a card reader.

The printer is an Epson CX3200 which also definitely works (in Windows XP anyway).

I configured the printer via the Printer Manager /usr/sadm/admin/bin/printmgr

Description: blah blah
Printer Port /dev/printers/1
Printer Maker: Epson
Printer Model: Espon Stylus CX3200
Printer Driver: Foomatic/gimp-print (rcommended)
Fault Notification: Write to Superuser
Options: Default Printer
User Access List: all

OK Apply Reset Cancel Help

I'm running Solaris 9 404

"boot" is the user name!

I tried creating a file and then using dd if=file of=/dev/printers/1 to write it
to the printer, but that didn't work either.

We need to get the printer working soon to provide hardcopy of logs.

Any ideas? It seems to me that the USB system just isn't passing the data to
the printer...
