    Greetings,

I use Sun Patch Manager to keep current with Solaris patches. Normally
I download the patches into a common area and apply them as needed. I
also create a jumpstart image when a new kernel patch is issued.

I am currently using Sun Patch Manager 2.0 on Solaris 9 sparc systems.
During the install of Patch Manager 2.0, it applies patch 117679-01,
which is a WBEM patch. Recently, patch 112945-29 was issued, which is
a patch for WBEM that conflicts with 117679-01. When applying
112945-29 with patchadd, it tells you to first remove 117679-01. When
you run patchrm 117679-01, it says you first have to pkgrm
SUNWmpatchmgr, which is the patch manager itself.

So, I removed SUNWmpatchmgr, then removed 117679-01, then applied
112945-29. While installing the patch, it "encouraged" me to install
Patch Manager 2.1. However, I can only find version 2.0 on
www.sun.com, and that won't install anymore becuase it tries to load
patch 117679-01 and that fails because 112945-29 is installed.

Is there a way out of this Patch-Manager-patch-requirement
circularity? It would seem that I need Patch Manager 2.1. If anyone
has a pointer to this I would appreciate it. Otherwise, what is the
proper setup now for running Patch Manager? Thanks.
