    Hi Admins,

I want to congratulate this Sunmanager List for his high technical
level of knowledge hopping you can help me.

I need to replace a Hard Disk that is part of a may be D1000 or A1000
or A5200 array, the server has configured Solaris 6, and it has
installed the Sun Cluster 2.2 software and the Disk are managed with
    Solstice Disk Suite 4.2

I read some likely post but not the same case,
I am receaving the following message (/var/adm/messages)

    Feb 23 19:03:48 mcmfga unix: WARNING: did_open: dd_get_soft_state(66) error^M
    Feb 23 19:03:48 mcmfga unix: WARNING: did_open: dd_get_soft_state(64) error^M
    Feb 23 19:03:48 mcmfga rpc.metamhd: /dev/did/rdsk/d64: open: No such
    device or address
    Feb 23 19:03:48 mcmfga unix: WARNING: did_open: dd_get_soft_state(59) error^M
    Feb 23 19:03:48 mcmfga rpc.metamhd: /dev/did/rdsk/d59: open: No such
    device or address
    Feb 23 19:03:48 mcmfga unix: WARNING: did_open: dd_get_soft_state(70) error^M

    I applied the solution:

    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-26-23600-1&searchclause=dd_get_soft_state

    but it doesn't works.

A very important NOTE is that the server is not part of a Sun Cluster,
    it's a standalone node.

Another thing related, is that some of the Arrays have an Alarmed
Disk, I don't know how to retrieve a Matrix of the disks and how to
identify exactly the Disk in order to replace it.

Somebody could tell me how to know what disk to replace? and .. how to
eliminate the error mentioned above, I suppose the 2 errors are
    related.

Also I think the configuration is bad (DiskSuite)

    another output:

    root@nodea[/kernel/drv]:scdidadm -L
    48 nodeb:/dev/rdsk/c0t11d0 /dev/did/rdsk/d48

In a typical R5 array that is installed/setup by small shops, where they have 3xDisk for R5, you are right, but, in a proper setup where you have 5xDisks or more, then you will see a LOT of read performance that you don't get out of a Mirror - this is very much the case when you have LOTS of users accessing the server or have a SQL database that users are hitting. ... then install another RAID-0 or RAID-1 or single disk for page file, it's still not as fast as a properly configured system designed for SQL use. ...
