help on mt command

    Hi
     I am having 2 sun servers running solaris 5.7 and 5.8
    one server is connected with tape drive.While
    accessing the tape from another using mt command its
    showing device path not found.Whether mt will work
    remotely or not?.ufsdump and restore working from
    remotely.this entry added in hosts file and .rhosts
    file also.

    command what I'm givin as follows

    #mt -f mtrdc3:/dev/rmt/0 rew

    the same ufsdump and restore is working fine

    #ufsrestore -tvf mtrdc3:/dev/rmt/0n
    this command is working

    If any one having some idea plz help me
