    Hi ,

For the sake of precaution , we took both nodes shutdown with the
"scshutdown" command , rebooted in non-cluster mode & set the same time
using the "date" command on both the nodes. Then restarted in cluster
    mode.

Thanks for yours valuable suggestions & information

    Hi Sanjay,

I don't know if you've already gotten an answer on this - you have three
choices, some of which you've mentioned:

    1. 'date' command - this is not ideal in a clustered environment,
however, if you have root access to both nodes of the cluster, you can
set it, without having to take down or reboot either cluster. The main
danger in using this method is if the cluster software that you are using
is set-up to react in some way if the clocks on each node become too far
out of synchronisation. To get around that, you could have two people
enter the same 'date' command at the same time on two terminals.

    2. 'ntpdate' command - if you have a node on your network set-up for use
as an ntp server, you can use the ntpdate command... this works in a
similar manner to the 'date' command. If you look at the man page for
it, it is pretty self-explanatory. The same danger applies as with the
    date command above.

    3. xntpd daemon - this is by far the best option if it is available to
you. I know from personal experience though that it is not configured in
the standard Solaris 8 install but the packages are there. It doesn't
look as though it is necessary to take down either of the cluster nodes
in order to do this. Of course, you have to have an ntp server to
    reference against.

On our 280R here, I just used ntpdate - I put an entry in the root
crontable to synchronise it with our primary network ntp server every
    morning at 2am.

I hope this is of some help.
    Best regards

    George.

    Hello ,

My question is if there ntp not configured on the servers ,

The way we set the time on the non-cluster systems , the same way can we
set the time or we have do to shutdown of the cluster on the one of the
node & then set the time ?

I hope all of you suggested is to do the ntp configuration. my question
is if n tp is not there ? then how to set the time?
