    Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen any issues with their soft
    partitions on both Solaris 8 & 9.

Last Nov we had a Sol 8 server which had a soft partition (with logging)
which for no reason started logging lines like:
ufs: [ID 879645 kern.notice] NOTICE: /opt: unexpected free inode xxxx, run
    fsck(1M) -o f

Today on a Sol 9 server a soft partition (with logging) did the same thing:
    Jun 29 08:08:19 xxxxxxxxx ufs: [ID 879645 kern.notice] NOTICE: /opt:
    unexpected free inode 30174, run fsck(1M) -o f

We also have a few Sol 9 servers which have soft partitions (with logging)
and they can use their partitions without any problems, but sometimes when
you unmount the filesystem, you cannot remount it without newfs'ing it! Here
is the screen capture of when it happened last time:

    # umount /notes/translog
    # mount /notes/translog
    mount: Operation not applicable
    mount: cannot mount /dev/md/dsk/d55
    # metastat d55
