Can't initialize resolver

    Hello gurus,
    i have a solaris 8 box, nothing special, nsswitch conf correct with entries
    files dns for the hosts, also the resolv.conf works great on other boxes.
    the strange thin is when i do nslookup i get this
     # nslookup
    *** Can't initialize resolver.
     #
    any ideas please??

    I also trussed the process but nothing showed up
