    Sunmanagers...

Quick question about my /etc/release file.

    I have
been deploying servers into production over the past year with
    Solaris 8 2/02
installed. I was under the impression that if I
    installed the latest and
    greatest Recommended patch cluster (kernel
117350-18), I would not have to
    install the maintenance update 7.

    #> cat /etc/release
    Solaris 8 2/02 s28s_u7wos_08a SPARC
               Copyright 2002 Sun
    Microsystems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
                               Assembled
    18 December 2001

The _u7 had me thinking that this was an indicator that
    mu7 was included
    in the recommended 8 cluster.

    While we're at it, can
anyone tell me how to decipher this string after
    the 'Solaris 8 2/02' and
    before the 'SPARC'.

    Thanks.
