    Hi folks,

We here have to deal with a pretty large number of servers of all
mainstream flavors of UNIX (besides Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Linux - so
    far).

We are in the middle of a big process to migrate between EMC frames.
Much work is being done regarding this, including HBA replacement,
changing the zoning, cabling and so forth.

This work, as you may see is subject of many risks.

When doing with other platforms such as HP-UX, we have tools that allow
us to create a bootable backup of the boot disks. These tools, (HP-UX
make recovery and AIX Image Backup) give us a bottom-line to mitigate
risks. It is pretty out-of-the-box. If a complete rollback is needed, we
just install from this backups and the server is automatically rebuilt.
    No harm done after all.

But... we are wondering how we can perform this on Solaris. We haven't
yet done any deep research on this issue, but we know that Flash Archive
is pretty much what we need.

    1) Can Flash Archive make a bootable backup on a tape drive
directly connected to a server properly configured? Is the restore a
    simple procedure?

    2) Can anyone point to the right direction on how can we do that?

Any scripts/docs/hints would be very much appreciated. And sorry for the
somewhat newbie question, this is an urgent issue here and we are
    heavily time constrained.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Filipe Litaiff
