I downloaded gcc (from sunfreeware) which said that I also need to install
    the libiconv library.

The gcc installation ran without a problem, but when I tried to install
libiconv, I got the error below which made it seem as though libiconv.so was
a prerequisite. How do I install libiconv without having libiconv already
    installed?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    (Solaris 9, libiconv 1.8)

    Thank you.
