All indications are that (from the host) I have two functional fibre ports
connected to the "outside world". Presumably these lead off to the Brocade
switch (not under my control and not zoned ...dohhh), where somone has enabled
    multiple paths to the storage(HDS9960)

    Thank's to all

    Adam

    Subject: Dual Paths

    Hi All,

I have a SF6800 domain attached to a HDS 9960 with what appears to be dual
paths? The server is remotely located and the SAN is not managed by myself
    but
by a third party. The third party is going to update the microcode/FW to the
controllers in the 9960 and is sure that we'll not have any problems because
we "should" be dual pathed. I've been asked to confirm that the server can
    see
the storage but I'm no SAN expert and as I said before I'm not responsible
    for
the assignment of chunks of SAN. so ...

Is it possible to check that the server can see the storage via both
    channels
of the Qlogic card and is it possible to know what is configured at the
    switch
from the host. I would think not but I stand to be corrected. This is what
    info I get from luxadm:

    DEVICE PROPERTIES for disk: 500060e8027a5302

I think that clearly shows that there are two ports enabled and attached at
the host but without knowing what's configured at the switch and the 9960,
surely I can't confirm that when they fail it over I won't loose my LUN
(/export/home). Isn't the pathing transparent to the host?
