Logitech LX700 cordless kb/mouse on Sol10

Hey everyone,

has anyone had any luck getting the Logitech LX700 cordless kb/mouse combo
to work on Sol10? The LX700 is an entry level USB and PS2 cordless keyboard
and mouse from Logitech. Physically there is a single RF receiver/mouse
charging cradle and the two cordless devices. A single USB cable runs from
the receiver to a USB port.

The system in question is an SB1500 running the latest Sol10 and patched
up to be as current as the Update Manager thinks it should be. It certainly
has the various patches for USB support that are listed on the www.sun.com
USB FAQ pages and cfgadm shows that the hardware has been found.

cfgadm -lv usb1/2
Ap_Id Receptacle Occupant Condition Information
When Type Busy Phys_Id
usb1/2 connected configured ok Mfg: Logitech Product: USB Receiver NConfigs: 1 Config: 0 <no cfg str descr>
unavailable usb-device n /devices/pci@1e,600000/usb@b:2

The problem manifests as the mouse moving in a fairly jerky and haphazard
manner. Horizontal motion seems to be irregular and vertical motion seems
to have an (over)large acceleration factor applied, resulting in the mouse
darting round the screen in a 'drunken zigzag' fashion. (It doesnt seem
possible to move in a straight line. Pointing at something on display is
essentially impossible and that includes just getting the pointer inside
a window reliably...) The keyboard seems to function fine.

I'm wondering if the problem is that the single device I plug in (the RF
receiver) has to then generate both a datastream for a virtual mouse device
and a virtual keyboard device. I notice that its listed as a USB receiver
and of type usb-device with no usb-kb or usb-mouse devices visible. I've
tried a bit of re-plumbing with cfgadm but no real improvement.

So, just wondering if anyone has had any success with these devices or
indeed if anyone has any pointers they could offer...

Thanks in advance and I'll summarize to the list if there's any interest.

Enno.
