Had an issue with a lto drive connected to networker - was replaced, now tapes
labled on the old drive have issues due to the block sizes differences with
certian lto firmwares.
I have been told to erase via mt all the tapes and then relable.
i have had mt -f /dev/rmt2 erase on one drive now running for 2 hours - can
anyone tell me how long this should take on an lto2 tape ?
oddly truss on the process shows no activity - can someone tell me how to
check for activity ( i am remote from drive itself )
Re: slow tar performance on fbsd5 ... do with block sizes, but using -b with larger values got me not much ... decent transfer rates AND reliability was to filter *archiving* through ... Note that block sizes in tar count as 512-byte ones, ... while 10GB+ tapes usually expect larger sizes. ... (freebsd-performance)
