live backup 890's

Hello



I have the college database running on an HP machine currently We are
going to a sunfire 890 in the next few weeks. We got approval for
another 890 recently provided we use it as a backup machine and am
hoping to use an LC LC cross over cable from gb port for live backup.



Questions:



1. Has anyone does this (live backup)?
2. Any ideas how the polling would work (every 10 minutes?)
3. Would the backup server just ftp into the main server and
retrieve the modified/unlocked files?





I have done some searching and am running on a time limit or have would
used other forums. If someone feels this is an inappropriate posting
please let me know.
