Hi,
I am in the process of installing mysql-4.1.20 on a solaris 9 v120 box,
using the free pkg from the mysql project's own website for this
environment. I am getting the following error when running pkgadd:
----------------------begin output--------------------------------------
# pkgadd -d /mysql-standard-4.1.20-sun-solaris2.9-sparc-64bit.pkg
The following packages are available:
1 mysql MySQL Community Edition - Standard (GPL)
(sun4u) 4.1.20
Select package(s) you wish to process (or 'all' to process
all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]:
Processing package instance <mysql> from
</mysql-standard-4.1.20-sun-solaris2.9-sparc-64bit.pkg>
MySQL Community Edition - Standard (GPL)
(sun4u) 4.1.20
Copyright (C) 2000-2005 MySQL AB & MySQL Finland AB & TCX DataKonsult AB
This install require that the user 'mysql' and group 'mysql' exists
pkgadd: ERROR: request script did not complete successfully
Installation of <mysql> failed.
No changes were made to the system.
---------------------------end
output-----------------------------------------
This is interesting, because I have created the mysql user and group, as
can be shown by:
--------------------------begin
output---------------------------------------
# grep mysql /etc/passwd /etc/group /etc/shadow
/etc/passwd:mysql:x:5003:1::/home/mysql:/bin/sh
/etc/group:mysql::102:
/etc/shadow:mysql::::::::
---------------------------end
output-----------------------------------------
Can anyone suggest what to do here?
