SUMMARY: StorEdge 6120 arrays, ZFS and Solaris 10 6/06

Managers,

The solution was to issue the "stmsboot -e" command to enable
multipathing. After the reboot, my 6120s appear as single c10t[WWN]d0
devices as desired.

Many thanks to Kenneth Hwang, Victor Engle, Darren Dunham and Alex
Madden for their helpful responses.

Cheers,
-Rob

Managers,

We just installed Solaris 10 6/06 on our E20K. We have two
StorEdge 6120 arrays directly attached (ie no SAN switch) to
the E20K on which we wish to build a single ZFS filesystem.

On our previous Solaris 9 installation, the 6120s' luns were
configured with the SAN Foundation Kit (by a former sysadmin)
and showed up a two devices under format:

6. c10t60003BA4E851B0004090E5F2000C089Ed0 <SUN-T4-0301 cyl
34916 alt 2 hd 160 sec 256>
/scsi_vhci/ssd@g60003ba4e851b0004090e5f2000c089e
7. c10t60003BA4E851B0004090E62000063B7Dd0 <SUN-T4-0301 cyl
34916 alt 2 hd 160 sec 256>
/scsi_vhci/ssd@g60003ba4e851b0004090e62000063b7d

The filesystems were then simply mounted on the c10t[WWN]d0 devices.

Under our new Sol10 installation, the 6120s show up as four
devices; I assume this is because they're dual-path'd:

3. c1t2d0 <SUN-T4-0301 cyl 34916 alt 2 hd 160 sec 256>
/pci@1c,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/ssd@w20030003ba4e8518,0
4. c1t2d1 <SUN-T4-0301 cyl 34916 alt 2 hd 160 sec 256>
/pci@1c,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/ssd@w20030003ba4e8518,1
8. c3t1d0 <SUN-T4-0301 cyl 34916 alt 2 hd 160 sec 256>
/pci@3c,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/ssd@w20030003ba4e851b,0
9. c3t1d1 <SUN-T4-0301 cyl 34916 alt 2 hd 160 sec 256>
/pci@3c,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/ssd@w20030003ba4e851b,1

I know the SAN Foundation Kit has been incorporated into the
Sol10 base install, and I suspect - but lack sufficient
disk-fu to fully understand - that I need to build two new
cXtXdX devices for my zpool using... luxadm? Or is there new
ZFS tools to do this? Or... ?

As I probably have the only E20K environment in the world
without a support contract (don't get me started), I throw
myself upon the mercy of this list for assistance. How
should I build a raidz across these 6120s? "zpool create"
wants device names including the slice...

Many thanks in advance. I'll summarize in the usual manner.
-Rob
