I wish to restrict access to a server. In particular, I don't want
someone to be able to plug a laptop into serial port B and be able
to log in to the server. My understanding is that
/usr/sbin/pmadm -d -p zsmon -s ttyb
will do the trick. I did this to ttya on a server that I know has a
Lightwave console server connected to ttya (its an E250) to test this
out. I still got the login prompt. So apparently this command is
not working or I am doing something wrong. Has anyone successfully
stopped the login process on unused serial ports (without interfering
with the console connection on ttya)?

Re: Server management card[ot?] ... If you have a rack-mount server from any respectable vendor or a home-built with a SuperMicro motherboard, ... If you need network access you might want to look into Ethernet serial port server devices. ... If you have several servers that support serial consoles, an Ethernet serial server can be cheaper than putting network management cards in every server. ... (comp.os.linux.hardware)
