updatemanager failing to register

All,
I am having problems with the updatemanager (and related tools) on a
new Solaris 10 06/06 install.
I have installed the latest patch cluster and the problem is no better.
I have installed all the needed packages from the 06/06 DVD (as far as I
can tell) but I get the following errors:
bash-3.00# /usr/lib/cc-cfw/platform/transport/bin/cctrunner -p
unhandled exception: Shared CNS CCR lacks required properties:
cns.security.privatekey, cns.transport.serverurlcns.assetid/cns.clientid
the updatemanager GUI just hangs when I tell this to try and register.
sconadm just hangs also (truss is available but rather dull if anyone
wants it)
This http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=104118 seems to be
my problem but no resolution was ever posted.
Any ideas/tips/tricks from anyone out there?
