File Access Control Lists (ACL) lost when recovering Flash Archive

Managers,
When recovering a flash archive of a system with ACL's set on files within
said archive, those ACL's are lost on the recovered system.
Is there some way to preserve ACL's from master to clone(s)?
I tried 'wrapping' cpio to force the '-P' option (-P = preserve ACL's), but
when the archive extraction reaches a file with ACL's, the extraction fails
with a ".could not write to pipe while extracting." error.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Enoch
