Solaris DST patch and NTP ?

We have Solaris 8 on SUN Ultra Sparc server. This server work as ORACLE
server ONLY. Due to 24 X7, iit is very hard for me to shutdown Database and
server to install SUN DST patches. My question are:

1. If I setup NTP client to sync with NTP server, do I still need install
SUN DST patches or not?

2. I also found some one post procedures on Internet which don't need reboot
server. Can anyone tell me procedures are workable or not?

1. Download the patch # 109809-02
2. Unzip it in /tmp/ (or some other location)
3. cd /usr/share/lib/ ; cp -rp zoneinfo zoneinfo.org
4. cd /tmp/109809-02/SUNWcsu/reloc/usr/share/lib/zoneinfo/
5. copy EST5EDT to /usr/share/lib/zoneinfo/EST5EDT and to
/usr/share/lib/zoneinfo/US/Eastern
