SUMMARY: repair a SAN disk, revised

Hello to all Gurus,

Thanks to everyone who replied. I got plenty of answers but this one
puts them all in a nutshell:
----
Hi,

Please try to run the full fsck and see if it can
repair the vxfs filesystem.
fsck -Fvxfs -o full -Y /dev/dsk/dwh_backup02

Otherwise only option is to restore from backup.

So, after running the fscx -o full quite a lot of stuff was restored but
the folder structure was destroyed. In the end I had to clean the disk
and restore the week old stuff from backups.

Hello again,

Maybe it's worth explaining that the SAN is an HP
EVA, thus there are no
hotspares that I could use. We trust(ed) on the EVA
internal RAID5 &
VRAID but losing the FC was something we didn't
think of.

Subject: repair a SAN disk?

Hello all Gurus out there,

I have a Sol8 server connected to a FC SAN. The FC
was lost for a moment
during a copy which made the vxfs disk corrupt.

This is the first time I'm trying to salvage a disk
so I don't have many
means to do it. Perhaps you could help me out?

The problem is this:

Server1:~$ mount /data1/dwh/BACKUP02

UX:vxfs mount: ERROR: /dev/dsk/dwh_backup02 is
corrupted. needs checking

Server1:~$ fsck /dev/dsk/dwh_backup02

UX:vxfs fsck: WARNING: file system had I/O error(s)
on meta-data.

UX:vxfs fsck: ERROR: OLT extent 1 has bad checksum

read of OLT copy failed

UX:vxfs fsck: ERROR: cannot initialize aggregate

file system check failure, aborting ...

Any ideas what could I try next?
